Rapid migration provides a core foundation for business growth

To build a robust foundation for the business’s growth plans and drive high-value customer outcomes, Stockland embarked on a major transformation of both their business and their IT infrastructure. The project included a large custom development program with SAP to replace a range of systems that managed key elements of their core business. The company was also experiencing challenges with the performance of their custom-developed systems which they attributed to their architectural infrastructure. At the time, Stockland was running their mission-critical SAP systems on another Cloud provider. Stockland made the decision to migrate their systems to a high-performing, secure, well-architected solution on AWS that could be quickly implemented across their complex IT environment. Lemongrass was selected to transition their Development, Test, Training, and Sandbox systems to AWS over a short 11-week implementation period. The Lemongrass team met Stockland’s tight deadline and delivered the project successfully despite the major SAP rollout in progress across the company.
Based on the success of this migration, Lemongrass was given a key role in the delivery of an ongoing SAP program with Stockland, including the transition to steady-state support.

Managing the migration of a complex customized SAP landscape

Some of the major challenges encountered during the transition, besides the significant business transformation initiative happening concurrently, were due to the complexity of the infrastructure and their existing large and very customized SAP footprint. Lemongrass rearchitected Stockland’s systems for the migration to AWS and leveraged Lemongrass Cloud Platform (LCP), with its proven methods and adherence to AWS best practices, to automate the build and operation of their SAP systems on AWS. LCP is a governance, monitoring and automation solution that leverages proven methods and Best Practices for Onboarding to AWS Cloud services and enables optimized operation for SAP and other workloads.

Lemongrass was highly commended by Stockland throughout the migration process for the quality of the project and for keeping infrastructure off the critical path of an extremely complex and time-critical program. In addition, the Lemongrass solution delivered a 25% improvement in system performance improvement for Stockland immediately.

Best-in-Class AWS Partner

After the initial go-live, they quickly transitioned to an as-required, business-as-usual support model. Due to Lemongrass’s deep understanding of Stockland’s systems, processes, culture and work practices, they continue to remain actively involved with helping Stockland to manage the many complexities of their infrastructure and basis layers.
